The Daily Capital LLC (“The Daily Capital,” “we,” “us”), a Florida limited liability company, operates thedailycapital.co and the related daily financial-literacy platform and newsletter (the “Service”). This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

1. Information we collect

  • Account information: your email address, and the display name and username you choose.
  • Learning activity: lessons you complete, quiz scores, streaks, and experience points (XP).
  • Classroom information: if you join a class, your membership in that class and its assignments.
  • Newsletter: if you subscribe, your email address (handled by our newsletter provider).
  • Payment information: when you buy Capital+, your payment is handled by Stripe. We receive limited details such as your plan and payment confirmation — never your full card number.
  • Usage and device data: basic analytics about how the Service is used, plus standard technical information such as IP address, browser, and approximate location.

We do not ask for or store passwords — we sign you in with one-time email links.

2. How we use your information

  • To provide and operate the Service, including tracking your learning progress.
  • To process and manage your Capital+ subscription.
  • To show educators the progress and quiz scores of students in their own classes.
  • To send you the newsletter and necessary transactional emails (like sign-in links).
  • To understand, improve, and secure the Service, and to prevent fraud.
  • To comply with our legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use student data for advertising or to build advertising profiles.

3. Educators and classrooms

If you join a class with a code, the educator who owns that class can see your display name, username, the lessons you’ve completed, and your quiz scores for that class. They cannot see your email sign-in, your activity outside their class, or any other account data. See our Student Data & FERPA page for how we handle data in an educational setting.

4. AI assistant

Capital+ includes an AI learning assistant powered by Anthropic. When you use it, your messages and the assistant’s responses are processed by Anthropic to generate replies. Using the assistant is optional, and you should not enter sensitive personal information into it.

5. Service providers

We share information only with vendors who help us run the Service, and only as needed:

  • Supabase — database and authentication
  • Vercel — application hosting
  • Sanity — lesson content management
  • Stripe — payment processing
  • Beehiiv — newsletter delivery
  • Resend — transactional email
  • PostHog — product analytics
  • Anthropic — the Capital+ AI assistant
  • Cloudflare — DNS and security

These providers are bound by contract to protect your information and use it only to provide their service to us.

6. Cookies and tracking

We use a few essential cookies to keep you signed in, and — with your consent — analytics cookies (PostHog) to understand how the Service is used. You can manage analytics through our cookie banner or your browser settings. Because there is no common industry standard yet, we do not currently respond to “Do Not Track” or Global Privacy Control browser signals.

7. Children's privacy

The Service is intended for users 13 and older, with a focus on high-school and older students. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

8. Your choices and rights

  • Access and update: edit your display name and username anytime in Settings.
  • Delete: delete your account from Settings, or email privacy@thedailycapital.co to request deletion.
  • Newsletter: unsubscribe anytime via the link in any issue.

9. US state privacy rights

Depending on where you live (for example, California, Florida, and other states), you may have the right to know what personal information we hold, to access or get a copy of it, to correct or delete it, and to opt out of any sale or sharing of it. We do not sell your personal information or share it for targeted advertising.

To exercise these rights, update or delete your data in Settings, email privacy@thedailycapital.co, or write to us by mail (below). If we deny your request, you may appeal by emailing the same address. We’ll verify your identity before acting on a request.

10. Data retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. We delete or anonymize it on request, subject to legal obligations.

11. Security

We use reputable infrastructure providers and passwordless sign-in to protect your data. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we work to safeguard your information.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. We’ll change the “last updated” date and, for material changes, take reasonable steps to notify you.
