The car someone drives, the clothes they wear, the trips they post โ that's spending, not wealth. Often it's the opposite: it's money that used to exist and is now gone.
Real wealth is the money you didn't spend. The investments quietly growing. The savings nobody sees. The freedom to say no. By definition you can't see wealth โ the moment it's visible, it's been converted into stuff. The person flexing hardest is frequently the one with the least underneath.
This flips the whole game. The goal isn't to look rich โ looking rich is just expensive. The goal is to be free, which is quiet and unglamorous and almost invisible from the outside. Internalize that and the pressure to keep up evaporates, because you realize most of what you're chasing is theater.
