Nobody brags about an emergency fund. No screenshot, no flex, no dopamine. Just this: the people who have one sleep at night, and the people who don't are one bad week from a crisis.
An emergency fund is money set aside for life's curveballs โ the car repair, the lost job, the surprise bill. It doesn't grow much. It's not supposed to. Its entire job is to exist, so that when something goes wrong (and it will), you handle it with cash instead of a 24% credit card or a panic.
That's the difference between a setback and a spiral. With a buffer, a $600 problem is annoying. Without one, it's the first domino โ debt, fees, stress, worse decisions made from fear.
Boring? Completely. But โI'm financially okayโ is a boring feeling too โ and it's one of the best ones there is.
This week: name the fund. Open the account. Automate even $10. Build the buffer before you need it โ you can't build it during the emergency.
